Sensitive Personal Data

Our GDC Registered Personnel have a duty of confidentiality in respect of all sensitive patient data entrusted to our care.

We may collect and process personal information if you visit our practice website and if for example, you take part in a consultation or survey, use any online forms or questionnaires, or when you email us your personal details. If you apply to register with our practice as a new patient we will also need to collect and process personal information.

Whilst we take all of our data protection responsibilities extremely seriously we urge all patients to notify us of their preferred method of communication (telephone, mobile phone/text, letter or e-mail).

If you use e-mail services to transfer sensitive personal data to us we cannot accept any responsibility for the security of this data. When e-mail services are used for convenience we advise that none of your personal data are included in these messages.

Third Parties 

We communicate with other organizations (for example NHS Hospitals, GP’s, Specialists and Dental Laboratories) in order to assist us with delivering high quality personal services. If we need to transfer/share any of your personal data to a third party we will ensure:

  • They are only provided with the information they need to carry out the service;
  • They agree not to use the information received from us for any other purpose than those specified by us; and

Our Practice Staff comply with all aspects of the DPA in accordance with our Practice Privacy Policy.
You can make a request to see all information that we hold about you under Principle 7 of the Data Protection Act 1998. This request must be made in writing to the Data Protection Officer and any charge applicable at the time will be notified to you on receipt of the request.
