Here’s the second part of the blog outlining the story of our Glasgow dental clinic int he west end of the city.
We opened our doors in the November of 2010. It was the culmination of a lot of planning and the realisation of a personal dream come true…
Attention to detail
Without question one of the key successes of this project was the planning. I don’t mean the architect’s input, I mean everything from the detail in the financial planning to the planning of deliveries to coincide with the relevant workmen who were required for specific installation work.
Over the period I built up a collection of reference documents and notebooks with scribbled details of pieces of equipment, stockists and all manner of memory joggers to help keep me focused.
We worked hard at ‘future-proofing’ the building…installing its own dedicated power supply, advanced wiring and other hardware which means we can adapt and change the building in the future should the need arise.
There’s a great sense of professional and personal achievement in bringing together the elements of the clinic. As a clinical business we’ve grown from a team of three operating out of our ‘bijou’ temporary clinic to a team of 16 with clinical team members offering a fantastic range of expertise and experience.
Moving forward the clinic will be used to host seminars and courses and I’ve set up a separate company to look after these activities. I want to focus on teaching and lecturing to other dentists in Glasgow – many of our referring dentists in particular – on the subject of dental implant surgery.
My own surgery has been equipped with video cameras so those attending lectures can watch procedures in our lecture room as they’re being performed.
The doors were opened at the beginning of November, 2010, and the response has been fairly overwhelming. The feedback from our patients – old and new – has been great and all very positive.
The team loves the clinic as a work environment and the building itself has proven to be a real ‘magnet’ for new patients.
Their visits, we suspect, have been fuelled by curiosity in the first instance and when the reception team play their part in our ‘welcome process’ they soon help those new visitors to make appointments for consultations and check-ups.
Our patient waiting area has the welcoming feel of a boutique hotel with comfortable chairs and sofa, sumptuous soft furnishing and elegant lighting.
The colours are from a neutral palate which we feel helps generate a calming environment, soothing the nerves of any apprehensive patients.
Our surgeries which are cutting edge in their design with the best of today’s equipment have been created to ensure the highest level of hygiene.
Without question the clinic plays a key part in the patient experience but our dedicated team of highly experienced dental care professionals is the backbone of our daily objective – to deliver first-class treatment and service to our patients.
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading a bit more about the background to our clinic.
