Today’s Daily Record Vital section which focuses on women and health issues carries a feature about snoring and solutions.
The article – see attached – carries information about causes, cures and crises resulting from persistent snoring. The piece quotes Philip on his suggestions for helping sufferers.
We here at Philip Friel Advanced Dentistry work with the Somnowell range of products which involve creating a bespoke mouthpiece for each patient requiring help.

Dental implants restoring teeth played a key role in this incredible 36 hour long full face transplant op which has been featured on all the US news channels and now picked up by the BBC here.
According to the piece the lead surgeon’s goal was ‘to restore function as well as have aesthetically pleasing results’.
Incredible procedure…and the benefits for this gentleman will be immense…he will literally have his life back after what can only be described as an unimaginable experience.
I’ve been particularly interested on the work done specifically in his jaw and mouth region.
I always say that dental implants are a technique which can really help a patient restore both function and produce aesthetically pleasing results when the process is complete.

In London today for a six-hour, in-depth Masterclass by Michael Pikos, of the world’s leading exponents on grafting procedures in implant dentistry.
Because I have a special interest in dental implants this was a ‘must-attend’ event.
It’s organised by the Association of Dental Implantology…
Their masterclasses are an integral part of the ADI calendar, giving clinicians, technicians and DCPs the opportunity to listen to highly acclaimed dental professionals.
From time to time we offer school students the opportunity to attend the clinic for work experience placements.
Obviously with something as specific as dentistry these students spend their time observing what happens during consultations and other appointments.
We’re sending congratulations to our former work placement pupil Kirstie Malley who has received an unconditional offer to study dentistry at Dundee University. She is overjoyed.
Our team – especially Liz Glass who’s also Kirstie’s dentist – is pleased that our decision to let the young people experience dentistry as part of our education programme at our clinic has led to a student progressing into the profession. Good luck to you Kirstie and enjoy your studies in Dundee.
We always appreciate feedback or a testimonial from our patients.
Occasionally patients ask if they can jot down their thoughts and comments – especially after their final appointment if they’ve undertaken a course of treatment such as dental implant work or restorative dentistry.
Here’s a note from one patient who explained the background to her treatment and her reaction to the outcome.

Yesterday at Mar Hall saw the annual Women of Influence Lunch which raises funds for the very worthwhile Action For Children charity.
Katie Melua was performing for the 350 guests.
Our dental clinic helped to sponsor the prize draw at the event which raised a total of £102,000 from the various fundraising events staged throughout the day.
Congratulations to WOI chairman Jo Mickel and her committee members for their sterling efforts and enthusiasm.
We’ve just received the news that we’ve been shortlisted in The Dental Awards 2012 in the following categories…
Practice of the Year (North)
Dentist of the Year (North)
Awards ceremony planned for April in London. Will keep you posted.
Delighted – especially for the team’s efforts in securing Practice of the Year nomination.
It’s always appreciated when the team’s efforts are recognised by our peers from the dental professional world who judge these awards.
We were delighted to support the High School of Glasgow’s Home & School Associations inaugural Ladies Charity Lunch which was held on Sunday at the Grand Central Hotel in aid of the Beatson Young Adult Cancer Fund.
It raised an amazing £25,793. Told by the organisers that the team at the Beatson were overwhelmed by the support.
That total is the biggest donation to date to the Young Adult fund which offers practical and hugely necessary support to young people dealing with cancer.
