A night to relax

AT the weekend we had our Christmas outing for the team.

After the last few months of full-on efforts to ensure the new clinic was ready to receive our patients we were all ready to kick back in a relaxed, non-clinical environment.

We chatted festive nonsense – and had a break from the world of dentistry, implants, veneers, bridgework etc.

We hope that if you’ve still got plans to do the same this week have fun, be safe in this crazy weather and have a good time.

Compliments of the season.

Awards success

Philip Friel was named as the winner of the Best Young Dentist of the Year Scotland award at the prestigious UK Dentistry Awards 2010, held in Leicester.

The awards are the highest profile awards recognising exceptional talent with active interest in staying at top of the profession.

Philip said: “Without doubt this recognition is the icing on the cake in a year which has seen the opening of our fantastic new clinic in the heart of the Glasgow’s West End.

“I’m very proud and delighted to have received this great award.”

On the run

I’ve just signed up for the London Marathon so once the pavements are clear and safer I’ll be embarking on the first stages of my training programme.
Two years ago I did the New York Marathon and ran in aid of the charity Gets Kids Going. This is a charity which gives disabled children and young people – up to the age of 26 – the opportunity to participate in sport by having specially adapted wheelchairs.
Monies raised in next year’s London Marathon will of course be helping those who are aiming to participate in the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
I’ll keep you posted on further news – and will be calling on some of you out there to sponsor me too!

Implant on tour – where to now?

Whenever I visit foreign parts for dental seminars, conferences, lectures or training courses I always take my implant model and snap it in the location I’m based. Because of my quest to further my knowledge about the latest techniques for dental implant surgery I travel extensively throughout Europe and the rest of the world.

Guess the location

Anyone recognise the location of the photo I just posted?
I take photos of a dental implant ‘on location’ whenever I travel for seminars, training sessions/conferences etc. I then use the images as ‘ice breakers’ when I conduct training or lectures about dental implant technology…

First fortnight…

That’s the new clinic marked its first fortnight since opening. It has been a particularly busy two weeks and the entire team has been well focused on delivering for you patients. I’ve also been delighted to see so many referring dentists – and able to show them our facilities.
It has also been amazing just how many local residents and neighbours have dropped in to say hello and take a look at the place.

Hitting the headlines

We’ve hit the headlines! TV/radio soccer pundit and columnist Tam Cowan became our first emergency patient to the new clinic after he lost a veneer. He’s written about his experience and how he loved our entertainment system in his Daily Record column. He’s also set up a competition and asked his readers to suggest ideas for movies with “dental” titles – Plaque to the Future, Edward Incisorhands etc

Tam's word on our new clinic

We’re open and welcoming our patients

Our brand new clinic has opened its doors and we’re off and running. Day one went well – everything ran smoothly and patient feedback was hugely positive. The team all settled into our new clinic environment. Having the clinic completed means we can now show patients around when they come in for treatment. Equally whenever prospective patients come into the clinic it’s easier being able to showcase our facilities and our clinical environment.
